Tour of Havana

The last day of my trip to Cuba was such a memorable one.  A friend and iPhone guru (Rad Drew) and I took a personalized tour of Havana in a 1957 Buick Special convertible…we were “stylin” as Nelson and Jeans showed us the sights and took us to many places that tour buses and tourists normally don’t get to see.  Accompanied by music from the 50’s and 60’s, we visited the beautiful Christ statue high atop the hill overlooking the city of Havana as well as Morro Castle, went to a lush forest right in the city, and saw Che Guevara’s home to name a few.  We originally planned on a tour lasting an hour, but we had such a great time that we extended it so that it was 4 hours long…time well spent as we learned about the rich history of Cuba from Nelson, our English-speaking guide.  His English was impeccable too.  A university professor, he and Jeans “moonlight”  and operate the “American Car” tour company, http://www.americancarcuba.com/en/.  Tours can be personalized to suit the needs of the clients and they also will provide transportation around Havana.  If you plan a trip to Cuba, specifically Havana, I highly recommend this tour company.  Oh, and if you go, say hello to Jeans and Nelson for me!
